Smoking Orang-utan
Addicted to smoking - as a result, ordered to rehab
AN orang-utan at Taru Jung Zoo in Solo Java, became addicted to smoking after years of people throwing buts into her cage. As a result she has been sent to rehab to kick the addiction.
It was ten years ago that Tori started smoking. This developed into an addiction after seeing so many of her visitors smoking and her imitating their behaviour with cigarette buts that were thrown into her enclosure.
She still has cravings and when she does she holds two fingers to her mouth, attempting to smoke. She becomes agitated when she can't smoke the cigarettes.
Didik, who is Tori's partner shows his disapproval and stamps out the cigarettes whenever he can.
The zoo has now moved the pair of orang-utans away from smokers.
