Hi. We are Vi and Paul Hughes.
After spending much of lives traveling or being involved in travel and tourism, we are both now retired on the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland, Australia.
We are parents of five now adult kids who all love traveling and who have given us 11 fabulous grandkids. We are both passionate about travel and share our stories to help others enjoy the best possible holidays.
Our greatest advice to travelers is to remember that everything you read or hear regarding any destination, tour or activity is from someone else's perspective!

Vi has been a teacher and a business woman with her own film and television casting agency, supplying talent across Australia and globally.
She also spent many years as a senior consultant with some of Australia’s leading corporate travel companies and education-focused businesses.
She says that her first cruise was when she migrated to Australia from England with her parents as a 10-year-old. As part of her extensive adult travels (including multiple cruises and traveling across Europe alone as a single woman), she loves discovering new holiday destinations.
She also spent many years as a senior consultant with some of Australia’s leading corporate travel companies and education-focused businesses.
She says that her first cruise was when she migrated to Australia from England with her parents as a 10-year-old. As part of her extensive adult travels (including multiple cruises and traveling across Europe alone as a single woman), she loves discovering new holiday destinations.
Paul has been promoting tourism and travel since his late teens, with his initial career as a newspaper journalist, features editor and travel columnist.
In roles associated with the travel and tourism industry, Paul spent many years working directly with the Victorian Government’s Minister of Tourism to help attract, develop and promote major tourist attractions, businesses and manufacturing industry, and helping to establish that state's 13 regional tourism authorities.
He later was senior communications manager with one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations, the City of Gold Coast for seven years, before consulting for 15 years across the seafood industry, recreational golf, education, hospitality, real estate, international trade and other corporate markets.
In roles associated with the travel and tourism industry, Paul spent many years working directly with the Victorian Government’s Minister of Tourism to help attract, develop and promote major tourist attractions, businesses and manufacturing industry, and helping to establish that state's 13 regional tourism authorities.

Our shared passion for family while enjoying life, business and travel helped us become a permanent couple in the first week we met in 2007.
A year later we were married, after having already launched Holiday Destinations so we could share our joint passion for travel with others and help guide them with their travel and holiday planning.
Still passionate about things we love - and remaining young in mind, heart and spirit - we continue to follow that dream.

Although we are not sponsored, some travel providers, tourism bodies and accommodation resorts provide us with media support similar to what they give to travel agents, newspapers, magazines, bloggers and television travel shows.
We choose to promote travel and not be "angry critics" that you often see on social media, so we do not write stories when destinations or attractions don't give a positive travel experience. We share our experiences with great honesty, integrity and transparency and welcome feedback from the thousands who use our site. This is Xena, the Princess Warrior - our 2020 German Shepherd "Covid Baby", who is now much bigger and looks after our home when not traveling with us. |
