Checklist
Always have a checklist!
Some things to include:
• Passports, credit cards, debit cards, loyalty cards, hotel vouchers, itinerary, timetables, booked tours, copy of travel insurance policy, banking details, phone numbers, research you have done, journal. International driver’s license. Book to read.
• If you are travelling with your partner make sure you have credit cards that are not linked together because if you lose any of them and have to cancel them, you have no alternative cards. It is always better to use a debit card when you need cash while travelling if you get cash from your credit card this is more expensive with fees.
• Medications, toiletries, camera, mobile, chargers for camera & phone, power point converter. Check online which fittings are used in different countries.
• Itinerary left with family
• Notify your bank that you will be overseas so that when you use your credit card in another country they know it hasn’t been stolen
• Take a list of information you may need: phone numbers, email addresses, overseas contacts & addresses, bank details, login details and passwords for any sites. Often information that we use all the time is stored on our home computer and we don’t realise we can’t access this when we’re away.
Print 2 copies of all your boarding passes, credit cards and passports and keep one copy with you at all times and one copy in a different bag. Just in case your luggage goes missing or your bag is stolen you should have copies of these documents in other places.

- Weather conditions
- Public holidays or festivals that may be on while you are there.
- Health warnings, injections needed, precautionary drugs if you are going to places where they may be necessary
- Duty free prices if you intend to buy anything
- Maps and directions to get to your accommodation and around the area
- Government regulations or laws in the country you are visiting
- Legal age for consuming alcohol - differs from country to country and is not allowed in some countries at all.
- Read feedback from other travelers before you go on the area and on tours, accommodation and transport.
