Language: Respect the locals by using a few basic greetings:

- Mothe (moth-ay) - Goodbye.
Driving: Drive on the left side. Slow when passing through villages. Be aware of cattle and other animals which may be on the roads.
Customs: Greet locals with a friendly Bula! It’s not hard, Fijians are so lovely!
- It is considered offensive to touch anyone outside your family on the head or shoulders.
- If visiting a village, remove your hat.
- Women should wear a sarong. Take gifts such as books, pencils, sweets, clothing or make a monetary donation.
- Fiji is still a developing nation and villagers will appreciate your generosity.
