Unexpected Boost for Domestic Travel
The global Covid pandemic dramatically impacted international travel from 2020 and it will take many years for the tourism and travel industries to fully recover.
However it did't dampen the desire of people to travel - to explore, go on holidays, see new places, enjoy new experiences and create new memories.
Many looked closer to home, where they could travel with relative safety. They explored options ranging from camping somewhere in the wilderness to living it up in the most glamourous and luxurious resorts instead of embarking on an overseas trip.
Around the world, people discovered many hidden local gems, boosting the popularity of home-grown destinations and being surprised by their new experiences.
As the pandemic became better understood, the world also began creating new ways to live, work and travel in relative safety.
Local and international borders are slowly opening and tens of thousands are embracing new holiday destinations with joy.
Holiday Destinations was created in 2008 to promote as many of the world's fascinating destinations as possible.
It's not a blog - it's a creative work in progress that continues to grow and now encompasses over 500 pages of informative stories and photographs.
If you'd like to tell us about your travel experiences or share your stories and images to help other travelers enjoy a better holiday, contact us at [email protected].
