Portugal
Lisbon, the Capital City
Lisbon is Portugal’s capital city. From São Jorge Castle you can see the city’s spectacular pastel-colored buildings as well as Tagus Estuary and Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge.
Beaches stretch from Cascais to Estoril and markets can be seen along the way.
Lisbon is a very liable city with a population of over 500,000 people.
There is so much to see in Lisbon if you are interested in historical buildings and architecture with medieval landmarks and castles.
Compared with much of Europe I found prices in Portugal to be very cheap. Food, markets etc were a fraction of the cost in other countries.
Many cruise ships come to Lisbon so this is a great way to have a glimpse of the city. There is a hop on hop off bus that leaves the cruise ship terminal on a regular basis and will give you a great commentary of the city, history and highlights.
On entering the city of Lisbon by ship the dominant feature is the Catholic monument and shrine "The Sanctuary of Christ the King" dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ. The monument overlooks the city of Lisbon.
