San Francisco Airport is not your normal Airport
IF you're unlucky enough to have a flight delay, San Francisco Airport is where you'd hope to be.
There is so much to keep you entertained from massages, showers, a yoga room and even a museum,.
The airport is a destination in itself. It is evident from the yoga room to the psychedelic sculptures that hang from the ceiling as well as the food and coffee outlets available
The modern, airport has four terminals arranged in a circle and connected by walkways. It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk the full loop.
Tired weary travellers can head straight to the free yoga room situated at the newly-renovated terminal two. It is the world’s first dedicated yoga room at an airport. The blue room is dimly lit and offers a haven for travelers who want to escape the usual airport caos.
After a lengthy stop over passengers can head for the airport’s shower facilities at Freshen Up.
Some travelers may prefer the XpresSpa for a massage, mani-pedi, facial, hair-cut or wax.
The airport experience could also take in a visit to the museum. Established in 1980 to “humanise the airport environment and educate the travelling public”, it’s the only museum in an airport.
There are 20 galleries in the museum, including the Aviation Museum, which can take you to another world where flying was exciting, glamorous, extremely challenging and possibly dangerous.
Early uniforms from the open-cockpit era of flying are on show plus model planes, amenity bags and seats. There are also many photos from the early days of travel.
It’s so amazing to see that it’s easy to forget you’re actually in an airport.
