Heaven's Greatest Hits
"The Greatest Show on Earth" was the storyline behind a 1952 movie, a popular Broadway show and Hugh Jackman's hit movie, "The Greatest Showman".
We’ve been on many ocean cruises and, while most headline acts stand out, Australian award-winning singer, musician and producer Jason Singh’s
new live show, “Heaven’s Greatest Hits”, is one of the best we've seen,
hence my suggestion of it being The Greatest Show at Sea!
It’s a spectacular tribute to seven of the world’s greatest entertainers who are no longer with us: David Bowie, Michael Hutchence, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Prince, Elvis Presley, and the incredible Freddie Mercury.
Making the show extra special were Jason’s six extremely talented “feature” musicians forming the "Heaven's Greatest Hits" band. I refuse to call them “support” musicians because they could each stand alone in their own right and contributed immensely with both the instrumentals and singing.
Although onboard it was only an hour of the normal three-hour show, we were super-impressed by the performances, as were the full capacity 1,300 guests who gave lengthy standing ovations after each performance.
Jason and his band Taxiride have toured internationally for more than 20 years, having a platinum album and multiple top 40 hits, including “Everywhere You Go” and “Get Set”, which features on Visit Victoria’s post-Covid tourism campaign.
Impacted by the early deaths of some of his musical idols, Jason created the tribute show “Heaven’s Greatest Hits” to help him process the passing of some of the great artists who influenced him, in particular Freddie Mercury and Prince.
While Jason is still with Taxiride and England’s Wembley Stadium has been one of Jason’s most memorable concert venues, this new show and band will be performing in Brisbane, Melbourne and at the Sydney Opera House during 2023.
Even the stage setting - empty coats depicting the heavenly seven - was well conceived, stirring everyone's memories and setting the atmopsphere.
It’s such a quality performance that it's sure to tour to other destinations and possibly internationally. So if you hear a promotion for Jason Singh or “Heaven’s Greatest Hits”, try to grab some tickets - you won't regret it.

Entertainment footnote:
As "entertainment critics" go, as a teenager in the 1960s Paul was a drummer in a band that performed at more than 350 events around Australia, including backing artists like Johnny O'Keefe and Frankie Davidson. In the 1970s, Vi established Queensland’s largest film and television casting agency Studio Search, providing actors and performers for major films and television events in Australia and overseas. Vi also created an oil painting of Queen, which the group all signed when they were on tour in Adelaide (including the late, great Freddie Mercury). |
While not the modern artists of the 2000's, we’ve also been fortunate to see many iconic performers live, including Sammy Davis Jnr, David Bowie, INXS, Kinks, the Beatles, the Bee Gees, Enrique Iglesias and Dr Hook, to name a few.
