Vancouver - Rosedale on Robson Suite Hotel has All Stars
Getting plenty of rest is one of the most important things when traveling - especially when going to multiple destinations - and the key to having a good night's sleep is having a comfortable bed.
After sleeping in dozens of beds around the world, the Rosedale on Robson Suite Hotel in Vancouver, Canada is easily on top of the list for providing the most comfortable.
We picked the deluxe king suite with floor-to-ceiling windows that let plenty of light into the room and provided a good outlook over the city. It also had writing desks in both the bedroom and separate living area, which was handy for two travel writers!

While hotel beds are something that is often not heavily promoted, the king bed and mattress at the Rosedale were THE most comfortable we have ever encountered and every night we had the best sleep we have had since leaving home.
However, that's not the only feature making this hotel both convenient and comfortable.
The bedroom was very spacious, with room for our many cases, opened onto a balcony that gave some interesting views across Vancouver to the distant mountains and the ocean, including a well known landmark the Vancouver Public Library, which resembles the Colosseum in Rome.
Library Square is in the next street so it is an ideal focal point if you get disorinetated, as well as a great place to catch buses.

The full-equipped kitchenette with three hotplates, microwave, toaster and Van Houtte coffee machine allowed us to have a couple of home-cooked meals while we were there, which was a great break from dining out all the time.
I usually stays up late and it was helpful to have a solid door between the bedroom and the bathroom, kitchenette and separate living area, with television sets in both the bedroom and lounge.
There was also a second door closing off the bathroom area, so it was one of the most private and almost sound-proof setups we have experienced in the medium-price range of hotels.
Providing a laundry service is common in most hotels, but the Rosedale also has inexpensive coin-operated washers and dryers on every second floor, which gave us another chance to refresh our clothes after two months of travelling.

Based around English-style building concepts, there was lots of wood, carpet and curtains without polished floors, allowing the setup to be spacious and cosy. A delicious and healthy continental breakfast was also included.
Despite the hotel being extremely busy, with a constant array of travelers arriving from or departing on their next adventure, the reception and concierge teams were really friendly, knowledgable and helpful.
We are usually out early in the day and back late so we didn’t have time for a swim, but the heated pool, spa, sauna and outdoor gardens all looked very inviting.

We loved the location. It was almost next door to the city library in the centre of downtown Vancouver, with plenty of shopping and public transport almost on the doorstep and only a short walk to the main rail connections.
We even strolled down to False Creek Ferries for a couple of trips to the markets and whale watching tour base on Granville Island and to catch the free shuttle bus to the Capilano Suspension Bridge.
During our stay we met Rosedale on Robson's Global Director Jillian Francis, who was a enthusiastic wealth of knowledge about Vancouver, its ongoing development and its opportunities moving forward as a leading business and tourism destination.
She is also responsible for selecting the great beds and maintaining the high standards across the facilities and we greatly appreciated her quality standards.
It is no wonder that Rosedale on Robson is Vancouver’s preferred accommodation choice for leading Australian travel agencies Flight Centre and Hello World - it’s central, comfortable and has well-informed friendly staff keen to help out with any question about the hotel or the region, so we have no hesitation in giving it all the stars possible!
