Here are 10 hints to a Peaceful 'DRIVE' Holiday
One of our family holiday suggestions is a drive holiday, however there are a few things to remember.
1. Vehicle: Make sure the car is fully checked and in good roadworthy condition before you go on any holiday. A breakdown can become a disaster with children in the car.
2. Destination: Decide carefully where to go and make sure it is “kid friendly”. The best holidays will be those that appeal to the kids and have plenty of activities for them to do. Happy kids means happy holidays.
3. Distance: Don’t aim to go too far if the kids aren’t good travelers. Keeping them amused for hours on end can be very tiring and frustrating for both parents and kids. The last thing you want to do is start your holiday with the “are we there yet” whining.
4. Breaks: Stop regularly for breaks, let them run around and burn up some energy; chances are they will sleep when they get back into the car.
5. Entertain them: Have plenty of ‘in car’ activities for them to do. Nowadays it is so easy to have portable DVD players, game consoles or other digital devices. Don’t forget the old fashioned coloring books and drawing can be a welcome change (but be aware of travel sickness).

Patience is the secret to a perfect family holiday!
6. Games: Be creative and invent travel games for the whole family to be involved. Sing a-longs can also be lots of fun.
7. Refreshments: Have plenty of drinks and snacks for the journey (but avoid sugar overdose). This will save the need to stop too often and kids are always hungry.
8. Comfort: Taking their favorite pillow or toy can often be comforting and encourage them to sleep for part of the journey.
9. Travel wear: Make sure the kids are wearing loose, comfortable clothing for long trips and shoes they can take off (and put back on) easily.
10. Be patient: it is important to maintain a ‘happy’ atmosphere in the car as everyone in in a very close environment for a long time and the driver must be able to concentrate on driving without distractions.
