The Philippines
The Philippines is an amazing tropical archipelago of more 7,100 islands, most of which have volcanic origins. There are 37 volcanoes in the Philippines and 18 of them are still active.
The Phlippines still has the natural untouched beauty that is envied by much of the Western world. It is therefore expected that you will find amazing white sandy beaches leading to towering rugged cliffs and remarkable diving experiences, aqua seas and sensational surfing.
The western Pacific has some of the warmest waters in the world, and the warm sheltered waters around the Philippines create amazing corals and coral reefs where you can snorkel and dive to find the highest marine diversity in the world, with more than 2,000 species of fish.
Amazing rainforests reveal more than 3,500 remarkable plants and animal species. The people are so friendly and enjoy an extremely diverse culture, which they share and celebrate with everyone during their countless festivals, fiestas and processions.
The Philippines is also renowned for its amazing sensational cuisine, world class golf courses and other sporting facilities, and sensational landscapes and sunsets.
The Filipino people are laidback and very friendly and most areas are relatively safe. In the major cities there is still an element of corruption that exists and this reputation puts many people off visiting this wonderful country. English is widely spoken in the Philippines and it is still very cheap for transport, accommodation and food.
Manila is the capital of The Philippines. Manila is a huge city with modern buildings towering over old buildings that survived the 2nd World War. The city is a bustling metropolis with chaos and charm combined. Here you will find many treasures hidden in markets and tiny shops that are part of this exciting landscape.
If you are going to the Philippines, just take on-board luggage – you will buy everything you need (including new cases) at the many markets and shopping precincts at bargain prices you will find hard to believe.

Almeria in Biliran
Feedback:
Think of a resort with cabins or huts on the beach - one direction takes you to waterfalls, another direction has you swimming in natural spring water, another direction can take you hiking up the mountains where you can cool off eating baby coconuts fresh off the trees. Alternatively, if you're as lazy as I am - get somebody to take you on a nearby isolated island to cook you lunch on the beach.
Return boat trip $17, accommodation costs from $15/nite through to $45/nite, Manila to Tacloban $130 return flight. Speaking of Manila; these days its like Bangkok and New Delhi combined - the traffic congestion is woeful, concrete jungles everywhere and the heat is atrocious.
Almeria though has no traffic, real jungles and the heat is blown away by the local sea breeze. (Danny Taylor – Brisbane Australia)
